Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup barley grains
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp honey optional, for sweetness
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon optional, for flavor

Instructions
 

1. Rinse the Barley

  • Rinse the barley grains under running water to remove any dirt or debris.

2. Boil the Barley

  • In a pot, combine the barley and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30–40 minutes until the water becomes cloudy and infused with barley flavor.

3. Strain the Liquid

  • Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher or bowl, separating the barley grains from the liquid.

4. Sweeten and Flavor (Optional)

  • Stir in honey to taste for sweetness and add a splash of lemon juice for a refreshing citrus twist.

5. Chill and Serve

  • Allow the barley water to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Serve over ice if desired.
