Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 dry skillet or griddle

Ingredients

  • 2 cups wholewheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Gradually add the water while stirring with a spoon or your hands. Mix until the dough begins to come together.
  • If using olive oil, add it to the mixture and knead until smooth.

2. Knead the Dough

  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. The dough should not be sticky.

3. Shape the Bread

  • Divide the dough into smaller portions, depending on how large you want the bread.
  • Roll each piece into a thin, round or oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.

4. Cook the Bread

  • Preheat a dry skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • Place the rolled-out dough onto the hot surface and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden spots appear. Alternatively, bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.

5. Serve

  • Let the bread cool slightly before serving. It can be eaten plain or with honey, herbs, or spreads for added flavor.
