Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Potato Masher or large hands
  • Pot optional for simmering
  • Fine Mesh Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Pitcher or Bowl for collecting juice

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh grapes red or black for a rich flavor
  • 1/2 cup water optional for easier juicing
  • honey optional for sweetness

Instructions

1. Wash the Grapes

  • Rinse the grapes thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or impurities.

2. Crush the Grapes

  • Place the grapes in a large bowl. Using clean hands or a potato masher, crush the grapes to release their juice.

3. Simmer the Mixture (optional, for pasteurization)

  • Transfer the crushed grapes and their juice into a pot. Add 1/2 cup of water if needed.
  • Simmer over low heat for 10–15 minutes to extract more juice and ensure the mixture is free from harmful bacteria.

4. Strain the Juice

  • Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl or pitcher, pressing down to extract as much juice as possible.

5. Sweeten (if desired)

  • Taste the juice and add honey for sweetness if needed, stirring until fully dissolved.

6. Serve and Enjoy

  • Pour the juice into cups and serve fresh. For a chilled version, refrigerate for an hour before serving.
