Why Does God Allow Suffering?
September 4, 2025Evangelism: More Than a Religious Duty
When people hear the word evangelism, they might think of preaching on street corners or handing out pamphlets. But at its core, evangelism isn’t about pressuring people—it’s about love. Christians evangelize because they believe they have received the greatest gift: forgiveness, hope, and eternal life through Jesus Christ. And gifts like that aren’t meant to be kept to ourselves.
Jesus Commands It
Before Jesus returned to heaven, He gave His followers what’s often called the Great Commission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” – Matthew 28:19–20
Evangelism is a direct calling from Jesus. It’s not about building an institution but about inviting others into a personal relationship with God.
Evangelism Comes From Love
Christians believe God’s love changes everything. Sharing the gospel is one way of saying, “I don’t want you to miss out on this hope, peace, and joy I’ve found.”
- If you discovered a cure for a deadly disease, wouldn’t you share it?
- Evangelism is like sharing the cure for the brokenness in the human heart: Jesus.
Evangelism Offers Hope
The world is full of pain, doubt, and searching. Evangelism points people to the hope that goes beyond circumstances—the promise of God’s presence now and eternity with Him forever.
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” – 1 Peter 3:15
Evangelism Builds Bridges, Not Walls
True evangelism isn’t about winning arguments—it’s about building connections. Christians are called to live in such a way that their lives reflect God’s love, and then, when opportunities come, to share the message with humility and care.
Final Thought
Christians evangelize because they believe God’s love is too good to keep quiet. At its heart, evangelism is less about obligation and more about compassion: reaching out to others with the same grace that changed their own lives.
❤️ Takeaway: Evangelism isn’t about forcing beliefs; it’s about sharing the greatest news: that God loves you, has a plan for you, and wants a relationship with you.
