Why does God feel silent?

Can I lose my salvation?
August 19, 2025It’s one of the most common questions believers ask: “How can I be sure I’m truly saved?” Doubts often creep in when we stumble, when emotions fade, or when life feels heavy. But God does not want us to live in constant fear or uncertainty. The Bible gives us clear signs and assurances of salvation.
Salvation Is Based on Faith, Not Feelings
Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Your salvation does not rest on how you feel day to day. It rests on Jesus’ finished work on the cross and your faith in Him. Feelings may rise and fall, but God’s promise remains steady.
Evidence of Salvation: A Changed Heart
When you are truly saved, the Holy Spirit begins to transform your heart. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
This doesn’t mean instant perfection. But it does mean a new desire to please God, to turn from sin, and to grow in His ways. Even the struggle against sin itself is a sign of spiritual life—because it shows the Spirit is at work in you.
Assurance from the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:16 says: “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”
One of the clearest signs of salvation is the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. He comforts, convicts, and assures us we belong to God. If you sense that quiet voice calling you to holiness and reminding you of God’s love, that’s His Spirit affirming your identity in Christ.
Do You Believe and Confess Jesus?
Salvation is not complicated. Romans 10:9 says: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you have put your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, you can rest in His promise. God does not play tricks with salvation—if you’ve sincerely believed and confessed Him, you are His.
Walking in Obedience and Growth
While works don’t save us, they are the evidence of genuine faith. James 2:17 reminds us that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Obedience, love for others, and a growing hunger for God’s Word are natural fruits of salvation. They don’t earn your salvation—they show that salvation is already alive in you.
Final Encouragement
You don’t have to live in constant fear of being “unsaved.” Salvation is God’s gift, secured through Christ, sealed by the Spirit, and evidenced by a transformed life. If you’re seeking Him, trusting His Word, and growing—even through struggles—you can be confident that you belong to Him.
