The Power of Forgiveness: Bible Study Guide
November 20, 2025Introduction
Healthy relationships require clarity, wisdom, respect, and emotional safety. Without boundaries, relationships can become draining, confusing, or even harmful. But with boundaries, relationships can grow stronger, healthier, and more loving.
God created boundaries from the beginning — physical boundaries, moral boundaries, spiritual boundaries, and relational boundaries. Boundaries are not selfish. They are sacred tools that protect peace, honour your identity, and create space for love to grow in healthy ways.
This Bible study guide will help you understand what Scripture teaches about boundaries and how to apply them in your relationships with wisdom, confidence, and grace.
What Does the Bible Say About Boundaries and Healthy Relationships?
The Bible clearly teaches that wisdom, discernment, and healthy limits are essential for relational health.
Here are foundational truths:
1. God Calls You to Guard Your Heart
Key Verse:
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
Reflect:
- What situations drain your heart or overwhelm your peace?
- What boundary helps protect your emotional and spiritual health?
2. God Gives You Permission to Say “Yes” and “No” with Wisdom
Key Verse:
“Let your yes be yes and your no be no.” (Matthew 5:37)
Reflect:
- Where do you need to give a confident “no”?
- What happens when you say “yes” out of pressure instead of peace?
3. God Values Peace in Your Relationships
Key Verse:
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18)
Reflect:
- What relationship disrupts your peace?
- What boundary creates a healthier environment?
4. God Teaches You Not to Carry Burdens That Belong to Others
Key Verse:
“Each one should carry their own load.” (Galatians 6:5)
Reflect:
- Where have you been carrying responsibility that isn’t yours?
- How does releasing that responsibility help you heal?
5. God Shows You How to Avoid Harmful Behavior
Key Verse:
“Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person… or you may learn their ways.” (Proverbs 22:24–25)
Reflect:
- What behaviors do you need healthy distance from?
- How does this boundary protect your emotional safety?
6. God Calls You to Walk in Truth, Not People-Pleasing
Key Verse:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?” (Galatians 1:10)
Reflect:
- Where have you sacrificed peace to please others?
- How does God want you to stand confidently in truth?
7. God Models Boundaries in His Own Relationships
Key Verse:
“Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” (Luke 5:16)
Reflect:
- How does Jesus’ example give you permission to rest, withdraw, and recharge?
- What boundary helps you protect your energy?

Proverbs 4:23 or Matthew 5:37 works beautifully.
3. Practice Saying “No” Without Apology
Short, kind, confident responses build emotional strength.
