Developing Peace through Prayer: Bible Study Guide
November 20, 2025Introduction
Many people struggle with low self-worth, insecurity, and self-doubt — often because of past rejection, trauma, criticism, or comparison. But God never intended for your worth to depend on how others treated you or how you feel about yourself.
Your worth comes from God alone.
Your confidence grows when you understand who He says you are.
And your identity becomes stronger when you root it in Scripture instead of emotions or circumstances.
This Bible study guide will help you discover what the Bible teaches about your value, identity, and God-given confidence.
What Does the Bible Say About Your Worth and Confidence?
Self-worth and confidence do not come from performance — they come from God’s truth.
These Scriptures help you see yourself the way God sees you:
1. God Declares You Valuable and Loved
Key Verse:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Reflect:
- How does God’s everlasting love challenge the way you see yourself?
- What lie about your worth do you need to surrender?
2. God Calls You His Masterpiece
Key Verse:
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Reflect:
- What part of your life feels “not enough”?
- How does seeing yourself as God’s masterpiece shift your confidence?
3. God Formed You Purposefully and Wonderfully
Key Verse:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
Reflect:
- What insecurity comes to mind when you read this verse?
- How can you speak truth over that insecurity?
4. God Strengthens You With Confidence Through Christ
Key Verse:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Reflect:
- Where do you feel weak or incapable?
- How can Christ’s strength become your confidence?
5. God Calls You His Child With Full Belonging
Key Verse:
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1)
Reflect:
- How does belonging to God heal feelings of not belonging?
- Where do you need deeper confidence in your identity?
6. God Gives You Boldness Through the Holy Spirit
Key Verse:
“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
Reflect:
- What fear has held back your confidence?
- How can God’s power strengthen your boldness today?
7. God Declares You Chosen, Not Rejected
Key Verse:
“You are a chosen people… God’s special possession.” (1 Peter 2:9)
Reflect:
- What rejection still affects your self-worth?
- How does God’s choosing heal that wound?
Study Format
Step 1: Read and Reflect
Sit with each verse and ask:
- What does this say about who I truly am?
- What lie is this verse correcting?
Step 2: Pray
Ask God to:
- Heal wounds that damaged your self-worth
- Strengthen your confidence
- Help you see yourself through His eyes
Step 3: Journal
Write down:
- Identity truths God highlighted
- Thoughts or emotions that surfaced
- Areas where you want to walk in greater confidence
Going Deeper
1. Speak Identity Declarations Daily
Examples:
- “God created me with purpose.”
- “I walk in confidence through Christ.”
- “My worth comes from God, not from people.”
2. Create a “Truth Over Lies” Chart
Left column: lies you believed
Right column: Scriptures that break them
3. Memorize Confidence Scriptures
Philippians 4:13 or Psalm 139:14 work powerfully.
4. Replace Negative Self-Talk
When insecurity rises, speak Scripture aloud.
5. Surround Yourself With Truth
Use wallpapers, sticky notes, or reminders with identity verses.
Closing Thought
Your worth never changes — God establishes it.
Your confidence doesn’t come from performance — God strengthens it.
The past does not shape your identity — God defines it.
Walk boldly in the truth of who God created you to be:
Loved.
Purposeful.
Valued.
Confident in Christ.
God is building confidence in you one truth, one Scripture, one moment at a time.
