Joseph was summoned from prison to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams. The first dream involved seven healthy cows being eaten by seven sickly cows, and the second dream involved seven healthy ears of grain being swallowed by seven thin ears. Joseph explained that both dreams had the same meaning and foretold seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine.

“The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.” – Genesis 41:25

He also gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and married him to Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. Joseph was now in charge of preparing Egypt for the upcoming famine.
