Bible Verses about 99 Sheep
March 13, 2025Bible Verses with Fire are powerful reminders of God’s presence, judgment, and purification throughout Scripture. Fire symbolizes both His consuming wrath and His refining love, guiding believers toward holiness and passion for Him. From the burning bush to the tongues of fire at Pentecost. These verses reveal how God uses fire to demonstrate His power and transform lives. In this post, we’ll explore some of the most compelling Bible verses about fire and their spiritual significance.
Bible verses that mention fire:
Exodus 3:2 (NIV)
“There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.”Leviticus 9:24 (NIV)
“Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.”1 Kings 18:38 (NIV)
“Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.”Acts 2:3 (NIV)
“They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.”Hebrews 12:29 (NIV)
“For our ‘God is a consuming fire.'”Matthew 3:11 (NIV)
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”Daniel 3:25 (NIV)
“He said, ‘Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.'”Psalm 104:4 (NIV)
“He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.”
As we’ve seen, these verses reveal the many ways God uses fire to symbolize His power, judgment, and refining process. Whether it’s the fire of His presence in the burning bush; the purifying flames that test and strengthen our faith, or the consuming fire of His righteous judgment, Scripture makes it clear that fire plays a significant role in God’s divine plan.
Fire can be both a force of destruction and a tool of transformation. In our spiritual lives, we often face trials that feel like we are walking through fire. Yet, just as gold is refined in the furnace, God uses these fiery trials to shape us. He uses it to remove impurities, and draw us closer to Him. When we surrender to His refining process, we come out stronger, purer, and more devoted to His purpose.
But fire is not just about purification—it also represents passion. The fire of the Holy Spirit, as seen at Pentecost, ignites a boldness in believers. It inspires to spread the Gospel and live wholeheartedly for Christ. This same fire should burn within us today. It should be inspiring us to walk in faith, stand firm in truth, and let our light shine before others.
As you reflect on these Bible verses with fire, consider what God might be speaking to you through them. Is He calling you to a deeper faith? Is He refining you through a trial? Or is He reigniting a passion that has grown dim? Whatever season you’re in, know that God is with you in the fire. Just as He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. His presence protects, refines, and empowers you.
May we all seek to be set ablaze with a holy fire for God. One that burns away sin, fuels our faith, and lights the way for others to see His glory.
