Bible Verses About Blessings
August 6, 2024Bible Verses About Depression
August 6, 2024Beauty is often seen as something we see with our eyes. However the Bible teaches us that true beauty goes much deeper. It’s not just about how we look on the outside, but also about our hearts and actions. In this blog post, we’ll explore Bible verses that discuss beauty from a spiritual perspective. These scriptures remind us that real beauty comes from being kind, loving, and living in a way that honors God.
Here are several Bible verses that address the concept of beauty from various perspectives:
Old Testament
- Genesis 1:31 – “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.”
- Exodus 28:2 – “Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and honor.”
- Psalm 27:4 – “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”
- Psalm 45:11 – “Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.”
- Song of Solomon 4:7 – “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”
- Song of Solomon 6:10 – “Who is this that appears like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, majestic as the stars in procession?”
- Proverbs 31:30 – “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
New Testament
- Matthew 6:29 – “Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”
- Luke 12:27 – “Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”
- 1 Peter 3:3-4 – “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
- Revelation 21:11 – “It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.”
Additional Context
- 1 Samuel 16:7 – “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’”
- 2 Corinthians 4:16 – “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
These verses illustrate that while physical beauty is recognized, the Bible emphasizes the importance of inner beauty. God looks at character and spiritual qualities.
