Bible Verses About Witchcraft and Sorcery
June 15, 2024What Does The Bible Say About Money
June 17, 2024Can God make us rich? Does God want us to be rich? These are questions many people wonder about, especially in a world that places high value on money. The Bible speaks about wealth often — sometimes as a blessing, sometimes as a responsibility, and always with the reminder to use it wisely and generously.
Wealth as a Blessing
The Bible acknowledges that wealth can be a blessing from God:
“The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” — Proverbs 10:22
At the same time, Scripture teaches that wealth should never become our source of pride or security.
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God…” — 1 Timothy 6:17-19
God does bless some people with wealth, but He blesses each of us with what is best for our lives. For some, wealth would be a help; for others, it could become a stumbling block.
The Danger of Loving Money
Wealth itself is not evil — but the love of money can become destructive.
“No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and money.” — Matthew 6:24
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” — 1 Timothy 6:10
God knows that money can either be a tool for blessing or a trap that leads people away from Him. Because He cares for us, He may withhold wealth if He knows it would harm our faith.
True Security Is in God
Our culture often treats money as a form of security. Yet the Bible reminds us that money is temporary — it can disappear in a moment. True and lasting security is found only in God.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:19-21
When we trust God as our provider, our joy and peace remain steady regardless of financial circumstances.
God Calls Us to Generosity
Those who are blessed with wealth are called to be generous and to use their resources to help others.
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” — Proverbs 19:17
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
Generosity reflects God’s heart — it turns wealth into a blessing for both the giver and the receiver.
Contentment in Every Season
No matter our financial circumstances, God calls us to contentment. He knows our needs and uses every season of life to grow our faith.
“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” — Philippians 4:11-13
“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” — Hebrews 13:5
Contentment doesn’t mean giving up on improvement, but it means trusting God’s timing and provision while resting in His presence.
Conclusion
Can God make people wealthy? Yes — He did for Job, Solomon, and others in Scripture. But does God promise wealth to every Christian? No. Instead, He promises to bless us with what is truly good for us.
Wealth is temporary. God’s love and presence are eternal. Whether we have much or little, God calls us to trust Him, live generously, and find our true security in Him.
✨ Takeaway: Wealth is not wrong, but it’s not the goal. God Himself is the greatest treasure we can ever have.
