How was the Bible written?
September 2, 2025A Question Many Ask
Almost every Christian at some point wonders: “Can I really trust the Bible?” That question is important, because if the Bible is reliable, then we can trust what it says about God, salvation, and life. If it isn’t, our faith has no foundation. Thankfully, there are solid reasons—historical, spiritual, and practical—that show the Bible is trustworthy.
1. Historical Evidence Supports the Bible
The Bible is not a made-up story. It speaks of real places, real people, and real events. Archaeology continues to uncover evidence that confirms the accuracy of Scripture. For example:
- The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls proved that the Old Testament we read today is nearly identical to the texts written thousands of years ago.
- Archaeologists have uncovered ancient cities mentioned in the Bible—like Jericho, Nineveh, and Capernaum.
- Historical records outside the Bible (like writings from Josephus, a first-century Jewish historian) confirm details about Jesus and the early church.
The Bible is deeply rooted in history, not myth.
2. Fulfilled Prophecy Shows God’s Hand
One of the strongest reasons to trust the Bible is prophecy. The Old Testament contains hundreds of prophecies about the Messiah, all fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
- Written centuries before His birth, prophecies foretold that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), be betrayed for thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12), and suffer for the sins of others (Isaiah 53).
- Jesus fulfilled these prophecies with stunning accuracy, something impossible by coincidence alone.
Prophecy proves the Bible carries divine authority—only God can reveal the future so clearly.
3. Unity Across 66 Books
The Bible is made up of 66 books, written by around 40 different authors over 1,500 years. These authors lived in different times and places, spoke different languages, and came from different backgrounds—yet the Bible tells one consistent story: God’s plan to redeem humanity through Jesus Christ.
This kind of unity is impossible without divine intervention. It’s like a symphony: many instruments, but one Composer.
4. The Bible Changes Lives
Beyond historical facts and prophecies, the most powerful proof is transformation. Millions of people—including me—can testify that God’s Word brings peace, healing, hope, and freedom.
- It gives comfort to the anxious.
- It strengthens the weak.
- It restores the brokenhearted.
- It leads people to salvation in Christ.
No other book has had such an impact on individuals and on history itself.
5. Jesus Trusted the Bible
Finally, the most important reason: Jesus Himself trusted and quoted Scripture. He often said, “It is written” before resisting temptation or teaching truth (Matthew 4:4). If Jesus—the Son of God—affirmed the Bible as God’s Word, we can too.
Final Encouragement
You don’t have to have every answer to trust the Bible. But you can be confident that it is reliable, accurate, and inspired by God. As you read it daily, you’ll not only gain knowledge but also encounter the living God who wrote it.
❤️ Takeaway:
We can trust the Bible because history confirms it, prophecy proves it, and lives—including yours—are transformed by it.
